Alex Hera is a writer and director with a deep love for immersive storytelling. At a young age, Alex was exposed to weird independent horror projects on the internet, and they were never the same.
Since 2018, Alex has been focused on telling found footage horror stories, crafting grounded human dramas, and documenting online art communities, with an emphasis on highlighting underrepresented stories & communities.
From 2020 to 2021, Alex ran a multimedia web project (aka Alternate Reality Game) titled, Walker Creek, consisting of 100 webisodes, 7 websites, and numerous interactive elements. After its completion, a feature documentary about its development, titled Making an ARG: Walker Creek was released.
In 2022, Alex released a feature length documentary titled The History of Analog Horror. The film explored the rise of the independent art movement analog horror through extensive research and interviews with analog horror legends.
This was followed up by Slenderverse: A Documentary Film Series in June 2024 - a three episode docuseries which chronicles the untold story of the viral icon Slenderman, through interviews with 19 internet horror legends, extensive cinematic reenactments, and exclusive archival content. Each film in the series was accompanied by a live episode of the Out of Game aftershow. In 2025, their found footage drama/mystery feature film What I Remember premiered at the Unnamed Footage Festival (after their short film of the same title screened there in 2024).
Alex is currently in production on a horror-centric documentary, and in pre-production on a found footage webseries, among other things...
